Wolverhampton, England, September 27th 2025

After Crammerock we were very excited. It’s only september and we already had the last Streets gig. Ozzy and I decided to go to Mike’s DJ set in Wolverhampton. We booked everything on the 6th. Tickets, hotel, flight, and esta. Mark will be home for Roos.
On September 12th, I got hit by a car, while riding my Scooter. The roads were slippery from the rain, so I didn’t go to fast, I went out of the way for a car, who was in a hurry. The car leaving the parkig space did see the car, but not me. I flew over the car. I was expecting rain so I was wrapped up well, luckily it’s only my knee. THANK GOD my daughter was not at the back. And THANK GOD it’s only my knee. I do walk on crutches. Also for other people to see that I’m not very stable.

Ozzy arrived last night. Our alarm goes off at 6:30. So we didn’t go to bed too late. At 6:30 we get ready. I have some breakfast. Ozzy just a Streets mug with milk. I say goodbye to Roos and Mark. Roos will watch some tv.
We take the car to the busstop. The bus takes us to Schiphol. The security check for our bags went very quick. Passport took a bit longer. There was a longer queue, but it wasn’t too bad.
We go to Maccy D. Ozzy has some breakfast. I just have a coffee. Then it’s time to go to the gate. H4 this time. We have EasyJet to Birmingham. The flight leaves a little late. But it’s only a 55 minute flight.

In Birmingham we take the train to Wolverhampton. Only 30 minutes.
We have some lunch at Wetherspoons when we arrive. We have been here back in 2009 as well, when we went to V festival. We stayed in Brittania hotel across the street. That was fully booked today, so we booked Premier inn instead. It’s also around the corner, but we’ll have a look at the venue first.

for £15 pounds we can have an early check in. I take a shower, and then we nap. We nap for about 3 hours. We oldies will survive the night.
At 6 we have dinner at the hotel bar. It’s not much, but it’s ok. It’s enough for the rest of the evening. It’s not a very nice place to sit and relax, so we walk back to Wetherspoons. It’s not much better tho, but there are more people. We get a few cocktails.
At 9 the doors of the venue open, we walk towards the venue. It’s very quiet still, but also very early. We can sit down. That’s awesome. Perfect for my knee. To give it a little rest.
Just after 10 we walk towards the stage. We watch from the side of the stage. It’s getting a little busier. We walk back to the bar and we get a tequila shot. Why? Why did we do that? We don’t really like it, but we still love it.
Time to go back to the stage. We still watch from a distance. A guy come over to me. Very friendly saying that I could use the crutches as a stool. I’m leaning on them. He said it was cool that I still got to go. He told me that he broke his leg when he was 14 years old, but he didn’t go anywhere.
After a few minutes this lovely guy gets on stage. This is a dj. It’s Tom Shorterz. I like the music he plays. But the bass it too much. I get a headache. Another guy asks if I’m ok.
It’s getting busier, we move more to the fence on the side of the stage. After a while we see Ping Pong and Mike walking by. They didn’t see us yet. We move more to the middle. Mike sees us and waves. Ping Pong as well. When Mike stands on the stage, he comes over to us to say hello. He asks what happened to me, when he sees my crutches.

After a few minutes Tom comes over to us with 2 wristsbands.

Omg thank you. I see that you’re a real fan he said. We go backstage. Tom picks us up, from the fence where we got through. He leads us through the crowd to the stage. Thanks so much Tom!! Ping Pong gives us a beer as soon as we get there. Thank you Ping!! Wow!!

Mike didn’t see us leaving. He looked where we were, but when he turned around, he sees us and smiles.
Mike plays a song in my language he said (Dutch), “Lekker, lekker” they say in the song. Mike plays a few Streets songs as well. The crowd goes crazy.
After the gig Mike leaves. He said goodbye to us. We walk back as well. When Mike is gone, there is no point for us to stay here. Ping walked by after a few minutes. He gives us a sip from a bottle Hennessy. Then Tom walks by. And asks if we’re ok. I get to thank him. In the meantime DJ EZ is playing. Seen him last year in Tottenham.
We go through the door. It’s so warm inside. Through the door it feels very good. It feels like you have fresh air. Tom walks by again. We follow eachother on instagram now. He’s a great guy and these wristbands were amazing.
Ping was still talking there to other people. But he leaves as well. We go back inside. One last visit to the toilet. The floor is very slippery. My crutches are not very steady inside. Luckily I can walk with that bruised knee. It’s a lot better now, then 2 weeks ago.

Lets go. I don’t need another drink. Outside the crutches work again. We walk back to the hotel. It’s less then 5 minutes.
Back in the hotel we get some snacks and a cola zero. From the vending machine. I write the blog. But the WiFi is terrible. Ill add the videos later, when I’m home tomorrow.
Night everyone!! What a night!!
The next day (read: a couple hours later) we have breakfast at the hotel. Then I buy some chocolate for Roos (and myself). Then we take the train to the airport. We fly home again. No more plans this year unfortunately. We have withdrawal symptoms already. Mark and Roos pick us up and we have dinner at the Venneper Lodge. Roos wanted that.
Mike released new music
What a great night !!
