We needed to arrange tickets. The tickets were sold out. I text Ted and asked him. We were dying to go. I let him know I was coming with 2 friends. He got us sorted. It was me +2. Cheers Ted!
Laurence came to my work to pick me up, she stayed at mine ‘cos we had to get the plane on Saturday morning. Also Ozzy stayed at mine, he arrived a little bit later. We all stayed in Bloemendaal.
Ozzy and I woke up really early, my brother Paul picked us up from Bloemendaal and brought us to the airport. Bless him. He had to work there. We didn’t have the tickets yet, hope it will be OK at the festival with our order confirmation. Ted said it would be ok.
On Twitter I asked Mike what to do: Rock Werchter or Newquay? Rock werchter was on July 3rd. Wireless was on July the 4th. I already booked everything for Wireless. Might have been a struggle to get from Belgium to England in time for both festivals but I would have tried, but Mike’s answer on Twitter made me change my mind.
“Kendal is calling me”, Mike tweeted, it called us as well. We’re going to Kendal Calling festival.
July 30th
The night before the gig Laura, Ozzy & I took the train from Bloemendaal (train stop is only 3 minutes walk from my villa) to the airport. We flew to Liverpool, John Lennon Airport. We stayed in Holiday Inn Express hotel there, as we arrived very late. We rented a car last night.
Ozzy & I went from Bloemendaal to Dusseldorf early in the morning to go to a camping and set up the tent. We found the Strandbad Nord Unterbacher camping, we set up the tent and it started raining a lot. We still had to bring in our sleeping stuff. Oh well after a few minutes it was dry again and the sun was shining. So we could finish it. In the meanwhile, I had contact with Laurence, She let me know that Laurie wouldn’t join us, as she didn’t feel too well, Laurence was coming alone. At about 1pm we arrived at the festival, and I text Laurence to let her know where we were.
Ozzy woke me up by sending me a text a couple weeks ago and asked me if I wanted to go to this festival called Deichbrand, I said no, half asleep. Then Ozzy said, but I would like to give the ticket for your birthday. I started waking up, sort of… and asked: Is Mike playing there? Ozzy said yes, of course, otherwise I wouldn’t ask, duh! I thought it was better not to go, as we need to save money for the USA tour. (a couple days ago we decided to go to America for the boys in October).
My mate Ozzy and I woke up at about 6ish and left Ozzy‘s house at 7.15… on our way to Paris… within 5 hours (with 3 stops) we arrived on the Camping Paris Ouest. I text Stephan that we arrived and on what camping spot we were. We have a bigger tent now, the one we had in Luxembourg, was too small.
We (Ozzy, Laura and me) left Hillegom and drove to Liège. We arrived at about 1.15 pm checked in the Ibis hotel, searched for a fridge magnet, for the bar owner Fred of the pub de Tempelier in Haarlem, as we always give him one, he collects them, but couldn’t find one…at about 4ish we met up with Emma Jones. Emma? Who’s Emma?
At 7am we were driving from Cardiff to London, We had to drive past Reading, and there was a festival this weekend (Reading & Leeds) So we left on time, thinking about traffic jams.
