On Saturday, the day before the Streets festival date, we (my mate Ozzy and I) woke up early, left the house in Dam quickly after that to go to the airport where we arrived at 10.30.
I had the flight at 9.40 from Amsterdam, well it was 50 minutes delayed but finally at about 11 I arrived in Birmingham. Burke would pick me up.
The scary thing is, I have thought for months that I would arrive at 11, while on my boarding pass it said 10am. And in the end it was 11 anyway. When I told Burke, he wanted to know the winning numbers for the lottery haha
I woke up at Callum‘s place at 6am, thought my head was going to explode. I still had a headache. Still a migraine. 2 hours later when Laurence and Ozzy were awake, I finally felt better, probably because I had a shower and I knew I was going to get some food.
We said goodbye to Callum‘s girlfriend Chelsea, poor girl had to work, and we got dressed and ready to leave to the Haymarket train station, Callum was still asleep. We left him a note.
At 8.30 I phoned the room of Emma and Emma, I asked them if it’s OK if we leave at 10 in the morning, because we had to drop everybody off at a different hotel. They thought that that was fine.
At 9 in the morning, we checked out and put our luggage in the van, also Jamie‘s and Shep‘s…. They didn’t travel with us, they had a plane to catch. 7 hours drive to go to Orange vale…. Poor Ozzy was driving a very long boring trip and the ladies (all 3 of us) slept the whole trip).
Another short trip to LA…. This time, both of the boys were in our van today and Emma Jones. (She and I never wanted Rachel there). Miss Pope joined Rachel.
We heard on the After show last night that the boys were staying at the same hotel as we did. NICE! We didn’t see them though. Anyway… time to go to LA…
We arrived pretty early…. Rachel dropped Emma off and went to her own hotel/motel/hostel. We were staying in the Wilshire Plaza hotel on Wilshire Boulevard. We checked in. The guy from the reception lied to the ladies. He told them that they had the best room with the best view. They were looking at Downtown LA. I believe that Ozzy & I had a better room. We had a view at the Hollywood Hills.
Laurence came to my work to pick me up, she stayed at mine ‘cos we had to get the plane on Saturday morning. Also Ozzy stayed at mine, he arrived a little bit later. We all stayed in Bloemendaal.
On Twitter I asked Mike what to do: Rock Werchter or Newquay? Rock werchter was on July 3rd. Wireless was on July the 4th. I already booked everything for Wireless. Might have been a struggle to get from Belgium to England in time for both festivals but I would have tried, but Mike’s answer on Twitter made me change my mind.
Ozzy woke me up by sending me a text a couple weeks ago and asked me if I wanted to go to this festival called Deichbrand, I said no, half asleep. Then Ozzy said, but I would like to give the ticket for your birthday. I started waking up, sort of… and asked: Is Mike playing there? Ozzy said yes, of course, otherwise I wouldn’t ask, duh! I thought it was better not to go, as we need to save money for the USA tour. (a couple days ago we decided to go to America for the boys in October).
