The Streets at Best Kept Secret 2025

Hilvarenbeek, The Netherlands, June 14th 2025

When Ozzy and I decided to go here, Mark wasn’t sure if he’d be home for Roos, so I asked Jo for guestlist, for Roos, Ozzy and me. Jo would try to help us. Thanks so much.

This festival is near Beekse Bergen. That is a safari park. We’ve (Mark, Roos and I) been here in Februari. I love this zoo. Anyway, no time for the zoo today. We have a festival to attend to.

In the meantime Mark told me he’d be home for Roos anyway, but I asked Roos if she wanted to come to The Streets with me or if she prefers to stay with her dad or her granny, but she wants to come to The Streets with me. Good girl!

On June 5th we get a confirmation from Jo. Thanks so so so much!!! On June 11th we received the tickets, and on June 13th we received the parking ticket. YES!! we are officially going. We are welcome!!

I ordered the signed “You think you’ve been buried” t-shirt, but it hasn’t arrived yet, but it’s going to be 30 degrees today, so I guess a black t-shirt is too warm anyway.

Ozzy arrived yesterday already. Roos has to go horse riding first. After her lesson we had a toast sandwich, then we go home to get changed.

Roos decided not to come. She’s too warm, too tired and not feeling too well. We said goodbye to Roos and Mark and off we go to Hilvarenbeek.

On our way to the festival, I got a call from my friend Charlotte, if we wanted to go for a boat ride. I’m not home, but Roos and Mark are up for it.

When we arrive at the parking, we park the car and we walk to the entrance to collect the wristbands. It’s quite a walk. And it’s raining a bit. But that’s not so bad, cos it’s very warm.

Strange days indeed is here as well. We get in touch. Ozzy and I walk to the stage “One” where The Streets will be playing later. Then we walk to the Press/guest area. We get a drink here and visit the toilets.

We make a walk around the festival field. We’re also looking for regular chips. We saw something at the entrance. We have to walk all the way back. Oh well.

Then it’s time for another drink. But I get a text from Strange days indeed. He sent me a video of Kevin walking around the festival. I spot him immediately. We walk over to him. And when he turns around and spots us, I get the sweetest hug. We get a photo taken. He’s going back. And we’re getting one more drink, and one more visit to the toilet.

Then we go to the stage. Songboy Blues are still on. They are terrible. Well…. That’s what I thought of them anyway . Oliver is working on the stage already. He spots us and waves. When Songboy Blues finishes, we have to wait 1 hour. The sun comes out and it’s very warm. Nearly 30 degrees.

There is a dad with his 3 kids. They have been to the Prodigy a couple years ago. I think he’s a good dad. His eldest is a big Streets fan. His favorite song is Take me as I am.

Mike is on stage, setting up a camera. When he sees us, he says hi and waves. Then Gabe sees us as well and waves. When Wayne comes on stage he waves. Olly gives me the setlist already.

The gig still has to start, it’s been very good for us already. Strange days indeed comes over to say hello.

The gig starts, when Mike comes on stage, he points at us. He gets in the crowd and give me a kiss and Ozzy a hug then does his thing.

The boys have been to the safari park. They’ve been on safari today. So Mike is all about animals today. We have to be elephants and stamp on the ground with our big elephant feet. A lady looks like a giraffe (not sure if that’s a compliment tho). Mike sits on someones shoulders and this guy is walking through the crowd and making pirouettes. It goes quite wildly, Mike says “it feels like I’m riding a zebra”. The crowd surfers have to hold each others feet, so they become a long snake. And preferably a moving snake. If possible. During Cliff, Cassell sees us and waves.

After the gig we need a drink. We’re going to get a beer and pay the toilet another visit. Then we go for a pizza . We share a pizza together. It’s very expensive. But luckily you can just pay. You don’t need tokens.

We’re going to watch Kneecap for a bit. They are better then we expected. They are from Belfast. I only understand a little bit of what they say. because of their accents. (Ryan, I need to speak to you more often). They have been banned from most of the festivals around Europe, because they are all about “Free Palestina”. Here, at this festival, they got a bigger stage, then originally planned. They moved them from a tent to the main stage.

We walk back to the press/guest area. We see Wayne walking with his Dutch friends. Two lovely ladies. We say hello and have a little chat. The Streets will be staying until late tonight. They are going to watch Soulwax. We’ll be on our way home by then.

Tomorrow is Father’s Day. We’ll be having breakfast with Mark and Roos in the morning so we’re going home soon, but first we’re having another drink and I take a camanbert and Ozzy a bun with pulled pork. Then it’s time to go home. I text Strange days indeed to let him know we’re going home. Already he asks… Yeah… Alarm goes early tomorrow. I tell Mark to go to bed early too. And it’s another long walk to the car.

We’ll be home at at about midnight.

See you guys tomorrow in Cologne. By the way… this was one of my favourite Festivals I’ve ever been to.
